Danielle Kraus
Principal
Principal Kraus began her journey as a Head Sea Turtle in 2023. She received her Bachelor’s Degree of Science from the University of Florida and her Master’s of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from University of West Florida. She holds Florida Licenses in the areas of School Principal, Educational Leadership, Exceptional Student Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Elementary Education Grades K-6. Principal Kraus has been employed with Brevard Public Schools since 2006, where she began her career as a Kindergarten teacher. Since then, Mrs. Kraus has served a variety of instructional roles in 3rd Grade, 6th Grade as well as Science K-6. Prior to coming to Sunrise, she served the Atlantis Elementary community for six years as Assistant Principal.
Principal Kraus’s goal is to collaboratively foster a culture centered on what is best for children. This includes supporting teachers as lifelong learners, garnering strong partnerships with all shareholders, as well as building lasting memories for families that will promote student achievement and positive character development.

Alison Marlasca
Asst. Principal
AP Marlasca is excited to serve her Sunrise family. She received her Bachelor’s degree of Science in Elementary Education from Florida International University and her Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. She holds Florida licenses in the areas of Educational Leadership, Elementary Education grades K-6, Math grades 5-9, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Gifted and Reading endorsements. AP Marlasca has been employed with Brevard Public Schools since 2010, where she began her career as a middle school Reading teacher. Since then, she has taught 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grades. Before coming to Sunrise, she worked as a 6th-grade teacher at Discovery Elementary.
AP Marlasca can’t wait to see what this school year brings and what we can accomplish together.

Carmen Elliott
Asst. Principal
AP Elliott has been at Sunrise Elementary since its opening in 2006; she is delighted to now be able to serve as an administrator at her beloved Sunrise! Mrs. Elliott received her Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from the University of Miami and her Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from Florida International University. She also received her Master’s of Science in Early Childhood Education from FIU and her Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She holds Florida licenses in the areas of Educational Leadership K-12, Primary Education K-3, Elementary Education 1-6, Reading K-12, ESOL K-12, English 6-12, Business Education 6-12, and Spanish K-12. Before relocating to Brevard County in 2005, Mrs. Elliott served as an Assistant Principal in Miami-Dade County, as a Math Coach, and taught all grade levels in Miami-Dade County.
In Brevard County, before being assigned as the second AP at Sunrise Elementary, she has served as a teacher in grades 1, 2, 4, and 5, as a science lab teacher, as Assistant Principal at Sea Park Elementary, and most recently was the Literacy Coach at Sunrise Elementary. Mrs. Elliott is so excited to serve as Assistant Principal at Sunrise Elementary.
