An instructional assistant is not a licensed teacher, but performs many duties both individually with students and organizationally in the classroom. Instructional assistants provide learning support to students. Some instructional assistants perform one on one duties with students as part of their Individual Educational Plan or work with students in our schools based English Speakers or Other Languages programs.
Minimum Initial Requirements: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a passing score on the Parapro exam (464) or a minimum of 60 hours of general education core curriculum. You must have a valid driver's license and experience working with children.
Action Steps: If you do not have an AA/AS degree or the 60 hours course required minimum, you must take the ParaPro exam. Below you will find the website to register for the test.
