Principal's Update - 7 August 2023

Bayside Students and Families

August 2023

Welcome Bayside families to the 2023-2024 school year!  We look forward to working with our former and new bear students and families.  For those of you new to BHS, we provide this principal’s update once a month to keep you up to date on school happenings.  Please be sure to be on the lookout for these monthly updates.

BHS Schedule:

The weekly schedule is attached.  Monday through Thursday will be the same schedule, while Friday is still early release with an alternate schedule.  There will be a modified schedule when needed for school-wide activities and/or mental health lesson days.

Clinic:

The BHS Clinic will be open to receive any medication or consult with the school nurse on Wednesday, August 9th!

Guidance

The guidance staff is working diligently to make any corrections and work with families on concerns regarding student schedules.  They are utilizing the Google form to identify concerns and make changes and communications with families based on urgency and receipt.  Please note that with over 2000 students currently in the enrollment, the process takes some time.  They will continue to work on schedules for the next few weeks.  A list of counselors and their caseloads can be found on our school guidance page at:  Guidance / Student Services (Guidance) Home (brevardschools.org)

IMPORTANT:  Please check FOCUS for updated schedule changes to be sure your student is following the most recent schedule.

BPS Student Code of Conduct:

Please be sure you are up to date on BPS Student Code of Conduct as it outlines the expectations for all students including information on dress code, tardies, and electronic device usage.  The information can be found on the district web site at the following link under Documents:  Student Services / Welcome (brevardschools.org)

No Go List:

Students with 1 or more out of school suspension(s), more than 2 in-school suspensions, more than 9 unexcused absences in a semester, or with any financial obligations will be placed on the “No Go” List for the marking period.  Students placed on the list will not be eligible to participate in events such as field trips, dances, senior events, and other special activities.  If a student is placed on the No Go List, there will be NO Refund(s) for previously purchased event tickets (that includes Grad Bash and Prom)!
