Principal's Update - 5 May 2021

Dear Bayside Students and Families ~

NEW…Bayside Highlights:

Please congratulate students Cavan Nolan and Keith Creager for being chosen for the L3Harris Training Program! Both students were selected through a rigorous interview process and will be starting their training program right after graduation. 

Desmond Ferrell placed 3rd at the Regional Track Meet qualifying him for the State Finals! He will compete in the 110 Hurdles this Friday!

Thank you LCDR Fenech, FS Martin and the Bayside cadets for being the hosts of the 2021 National Brain Brawl event.  LCDR Fenech's perseverance and ingenuity allowed schools from all over the country to not only participate, but to compete in real time in an NJROTC national event – first time ever! 

 

NEW… Technology Return:

If you checked out any materials including a hotspot, and/or lap top and charger, please be sure you are prepared to turn in those devices after your last class/final exam this school year.  We will be collecting devices from seniors May 24-28th and for underclassmen the week of June 1-4th.  Please bring your device to the Bayside High School front office between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM M-F.

UPDATED… Attendance/Tardies:

We have seen improvement – thank you!!!  To avoid class disruption and loss of instruction, it is very important that students be on time to their classes.  Administration will continue to assign detentions for tardies. 

 

UPDATED… Testing Schedule:

Current 9th and 10th graders FSA ELA assessment started May 3rd and continues through May 5th.

AP Testing has begun as well as various CTE assessments.  Be sure your student talks to their specific teachers for test dates and times!

End of Course Exams (EOC’s) for those students currently enrolled in the following courses:

Biology (May 6), US History (May 10), Algebra (May 11), Geometry (May 12)

 

REMINDER… Seniors Cap and Gown:

Seniors who did not pick up their caps and gowns at school will need to contact Jostens to set up a time to pick up from their store front.  If a senior has NOT ordered their cap & gown yet, they will need to contact Jostens (321-242-2055) directly; availability not guaranteed however. 

 

REMINDER… Registration Packets:

Registration packets for school year 2021-2022 have been provided to brick and mortar students.  eLearners can pick up their packets in the front office during school office hours 8 am – 4 pm M-F.  Please be sure to complete the forms in their entirety and return as soon as possible.  Completed returned packets will save time during the August registration day.  Packets have been distributed to feeder middle schools.

 

REMINDER… School Advisory Council (SAC):

Bayside is looking for a few dedicated parents/guardians/community members for our 2021-2022 SAC committee!  SAC is a school-based group intended to represent the school, the community, and those persons closest to the students. The group shares responsibility for guiding the school toward continuous improvement which includes discussions regarding the School Improvement Plan, budgeting, and other problem-solving discussions.  At BHS, the SAC meetings are generally held the first Monday of each month at 4:00 pm in the school media center.

REMINDER…Yearbook:

Yearbook distribution day will be May 11th in the gym lobby. e-Learners can come by the gym lobby between 9:30-3:30 to pick it up with a proof of a receipt.   In person students will come down by appointment.  Appointments will be done alphabetically periods 1,2, and 4, again a receipt is required.

Extra yearbooks will be sold on May 18th during 3rd period lunch in the cafeteria. It will be first come, first served after those on the waiting list are taken care of. If you wish to be added to the wait list, please email Mrs. Heather Fowler at fowler.heather@brevardschools.org no later than May 16th. Yearbooks will be $90.00 CASH ONLY. Very limited number of books are available, so we recommend that you add yourself to the wait list by emailing Mrs. Fowler. 

 

REMINDER…Graduation Date:

Save the Date!!!  Graduation is scheduled for Friday, May 28th at 7:00pm in the Bayside stadium.  The backup date will be Saturday, May 29th at 9am.
