BPS Proclaims April "Month of the Military Child"
VIERA, FL -- There are over 1,500 students in BPS who have at least one parent who is an active military member and 64 schools have at least one military child as a student.
With Patrick Space Force Base in Brevard County, BPS has long history of educating children of the military.
During Tuesday's School Board meeting, board members voted 5-0 to approve a proclamation designating April 2021 as "Month of the Military Child" in Brevard Public Schools.

The proclamation also recognizes and celebrates April 21, 2021, as "Purple Up for Military Kids" day. That is when people are encouraged to wear purple to show support for children of the military. April 21st is the date selected by the Florida Department of Education to honor our military children.
Brig. Gen. Stephen Purdy, Jr, Commander, 45th Space Wing, attended Tuesday night's meeting and spoke to the board about the importance of the partnership between BPS and Patrick Space Force Base.
