Brevard Academic Teams Compete in Final Championship
Viera, FL -- Over the past six weeks, 13 High School Academic Teams have been competing against each other in quiz bowl-style competitions for the chance to participate in the final championship event which was held Monday night.
Six teams representing the following schools advanced as finalists to compete for the championship:
- Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School
- Edgewood Jr/Sr High School
- Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy
- Melbourne High School
- Rockledge High School
- West Shore Jr/Sr High School
Edgewood Jr/Sr High triumphed as both the championship winner and the overall season winner. Following Edgewood in the championship event was West Shore in 2nd Place, and Cocoa Beach in 3rd Place. Additionally, Cocoa Beach placed in 2nd for the season with Holy Trinity placing 3rd.
The Brevard Academic All-Stars were also named at the championship event:

Coaches: Mr. Sean Johnston, Edgewood Jr/Sr High School and Mr. Mike Prince, Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School
The Brevard Academic All-Stars will come together as a new team representing Brevard County and will work to prepare for the Commissioner's Academic Challenge, a slow-paced tournament that will test competitors in the areas of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts, world languages, physical education, health, and technology. The Commissioner’s Academic Challenge is a statewide competition that will take place at Disney’s Coronado Resort March 31st – April 2nd.
Edgewood Jr/Sr High School's Academic Team won both the championship and placed in 1st in the overall season.
Brevard Academic All-Stars will continue on to compete in the statewide Comissioner's Academic Challenge this spring.
