Michael Broud Named B’laster Tomorrow’s Technician Instructor of the Year Semi-Finalist

Viera, FL: Michael Broud, automotive teacher at Heritage High School, has been named the November semi-finalist in B’laster Tomorrow’s Technician Instructor of the Year program, which recognizes stellar instructors committed to educating the best future automotive technicians.

Broud has a long career history in the automotive industry, including a position in research and development at General Motors and many years as an engineering technician at Milford Proving Grounds. Broud says that for many years, fellow engineers told him he “should be a teacher.” When the opportunity presented itself, he took a position at the Universal Technical Institute in Orlando. Then in 2009, he opened the automotive program at Heritage High School.

From the beginning, Broud has consistently worked on ways to improve the program and his students’ experience. Broud’s students have the opportunity to participate in on-the-job training programs, and his classes regularly participate in local, regional and national testing programs. He says he feels great pride knowing his program provides his students hands-on experience and technical skills, giving them a head start on beginning careers in the automotive industry.

Broud says he is incredibly honored to have been nominated for Instructor of the Year. “It’s humbling. I’d like to thank whoever took the time, who thought enough of me to nominate me. I’m just speechless.”
