Art Sketchbooks, Grades 3-6
Parents, your 3rd-6th grade students are using sketchbooks this year as a valuable tool in the art room. All 3rd grade students should have paid the $4 fee for a sketchbook within the registration fees when registering for school.
If your 4th-6th grade student is new to our school, they also need a sketchbook and were supposed to pay the fee during registration. If you believe that you did not pay the fee, please contact the front office.
If your 4th-6th grade student returned to WMSS this year, they should already have a sketchbook from last year. They need to bring these books back to school for use this year. Please help your student find their sketchbook and bring it in to Ms. Lambert in the Art Room 504 as soon as possible. We’ve already started using them and many students are missing theirs.
Please contact Ms. Lambert at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns.
WMSS STUDENTS SHARE THEIR ARTWORK WITH THE WORLD!
Move Over Famous Artists! WMSS artists are taking over the spotlight! Once again, Ms. Lambert has teamed up with Artsonia, www.artsonia.com -- the world's largest online kid's art museum – and has begun to display students' artwork. WMSS students join thousands of students from over the world whose artwork is showcased on Artsonia.
Anyone can view the school gallery online at www.artsonia.com/schools/WMelbourneForScience1. Visitors can browse the artwork in the school gallery by grade level, or by specific exhibits. Artsonia provides several online features such as fan clubs and personal guestbooks, as a way for families—even those who live all over the world—to encourage the creativity and imaginations of their young artists. Of course, Artsonia is completely safe—only first names and a number code are used to identify the artists.
Many of you will begin finding Artsonia Parent Report slips coming home with some of your students. These are just notification slips that the student has a new art piece on our online gallery. These are sent home only to those students whose parents have not registered their student yet, or if they have a bad email address. Once the student is registered online at Artsonia, parents will receive email notification of new art work. So if you haven’t done so already, please register your student as soon as a slip comes home!
Another excellent feature on Artsonia is the Gift Shop, where family members can purchase keepsakes imprinted with the child's artwork, with Artsonia donating a percentage of the money earned right back to the WMSS Art Program! Help support WMSS Art while buying these priceless treasures!
Headquartered in Gurnee, Ill., Artsonia was established in 2000 as an online kid's art museum providing free, educational resources for kids, families and schools to create art projects. Since its inception, Artsonia continues to integrate technology in the classroom, develop multi-cultural understanding through art and increase family involvement in children's Art Education.
